Valentine's Day, 1984, with my new toy.

After 12 years I finally got it stripped down.

I put parts of two body tubs together.

I never knew how much sanding goes into a paint job.

It took me a while to put parts back on that were taken off 10 years earlier.

There is nothing like blue horses, 105 of them.

It actually ended up looking like it was supposed to.

Packed and ready for a trip to South Dakota.

There is nothing like a Roadster for a family trip to the Black Hills.

There is nothing like fresh air when you go out cruising.

My wife bought this 1966 Bronco Roadster for $300 and gave it to me for Valentine's Day in 1984. Then we moved out of the U.S. for several years and it went into storage. Later, in 1996, I began to restore it from the frame up. Being mechanically challenged, it took me four years and lots of help to resurrect it; however, it was worth every bit of the effort. I never wanted to build a show truck but one that I could really drive. And drive it I have. From April to October it is daily transportation. I also take it off road and on the sand dunes. Last year our family took it all the way from Michigan to the Black Hills of South Dakota putting over 3200 miles on it in one trip. Let me tell you, there is nothing like cruising on and off road in a '66 Roadster. I figure we will being doing road trips in the Bronco for many years to come. There is just nothing like it! |
